Cappuccino the Dubai way – a luxurious experience with 24-carat gold

One side of Dubai is its glitz and glam so it’s not surprising that many upscale places offer something very indulgent and glitzy on their coffee menu – a gold cappuccino sprinkled with real 24-carat gold!

Why would anyone want to drink something so extravagant when you can enjoy a specialty coffee without a hefty price tag, I hear you ask. Because there’s something very special about drinking your coffee with some (or a lot of!) gold leaf in it. Apart from being highly instagrammable and aesthetically pleasing, your gold cappuccino offers some real health benefits – gold has anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties, amongst others. So it’s an interesting experience even for coffee connoisseurs.

Below we have composed our list of the sparkliest cappuccinos in Dubai for you ranking from most expensive to most pocket-friendly. We have also added a gold cappuccino offered in the capital.

Burj Al Arab – Sahn Eddar

Burj Al Arab wouldn’t be a 7-star hotel if it didn’t have a gold cappuccino on its menu so of course you can find this sparkly coffee there. Burj Al Arab gold cappuccino is normally served at Sahn Eddar on the first floor but can also request in other restaurants of the property.

An elegant fine porcelain cup contains premium coffee with 24-carat gold flakes completely covering the velvet foam and features an intricate Bur Al Arab logo. It is served in the usual upscale way on a tray with a Grand Cru Guanaja chocolate marshmallow.

Gold cappuccino and a glass of sparkly date drink to celebrate a special occasion.

The first 2 photos are earlier designs from 2016 and 2017 respectively featuring just a touch of gold flakes, however recently they have changed it to add more gold flakes to cover the entire foam surface. Which design do you like more? I think our favourite would be the one from 2016 with just a touch of gold, it looks so elegant and sophisticated.

Price: Burj Al Arab comes with the most hefty price tag at AED 120*. It is worth noting that its previous versions were considerably cheaper at almost half the price.

Palace Downtown – Al Bayt

This was the very first gold cappuccino I tried in Dubai. It was Silvia who told me about this gold cappuccino and on one of my visits to Dubai before I moved here we visited Palace Downtown for our indulgent coffee.

Silvia and I enjoying our beautiful gold cappuccinos

The Palace Cappuccino is served in the lobby lounge Al Bayt of this downtown luxury hotel from the Address group and it is a luxurious experience. The cappuccino is elegantly presented on a tray with two yummy mini madeleines. The coffee features the hotel’s logo and is sprinkled with 22-carat gold dust. You can choose to stay inside the spacious lobby but if the weather permits we recommend enjoying your gilded coffee on the terrace with magnificent views of Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera.

Price: This is the second most expensive gold cappuccino priced at AED 85*.

Armani Hotel Dubai – Armani Lounge

The famous gold cappuccino at Armani Lounge in Burj Khalifa is probably one of the most well known indulgent cappuccinos and for a good reason – the top of the cup is entirely covered with gold leaf so it is as sparkly as it gets. You won’t find another cappuccino with more gold to feast your eyes on!

Cappuccino touched by Midas – look at this magnificent gold leaf!

This cappuccino is presented on a tray with chocolates and madeleines (usually they bring random chocolates but if you prefer milk or dark you can ask for your preferred choice).

Armani Lounge boasts nice views of the Dubai Fountains so you can admire their intricate dance while sipping your sparkly cappuccino.

Price: This gold cappuccino at Armani Lounge is priced at AED 75* and you get far more gold leaf than anywhere else for the price!

Palazzo Versace Dubai – Mosaico

For one of the most elegant and refined gold cappuccino experiences we recommend heading to Mosaico, a lobby lounge of Palazzo Versace in Al Jaddaf neighbourhood of Dubai.

The presentation of this gold cappuccino impressed us the most  – it is served in a clear Margarita glass perched on an elegant tray with 2 delicious macarons. This fancy cappuccino features a thick layer of silky foam with an intricate Versace logo and is adorned with delicate pieces of 24-carat gold leaf “to give you a taste of royalty” (this phrase is taken from their menu). We felt like royalty indeed and thoroughly enjoyed our elegant cappuccinos.

Price: at the moment of writing the price of this gold cappuccino at Mosaico is AED 70*.

Aubaine – City Walk

While not a lounge lobby of a luxury hotel, this London-born French restaurant and patisserie offers a lovely gold cappuccino that rivals others. This cappuccino features a generous amount of gold flakes sprinkled on top of lush silky coffee foam.

Price: This gold cappuccino is the cheapest of the lot priced at AED 58*.

In addition to the above 5 gold cappuccinos in Dubai, there is another treat for gold cappuccino lovers in Abu Dhabi – the Emirates Palace cappuccino.

Emirates Palace – Le Café (Abu Dhabi)

No list of gold cappuccinos can be complete without another luxury gold experience offered by Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi in its grand Le Café.

The Emirates Palace cappuccino is described in Le Café menu as a “rich espresso topped with frothy fresh milk and 23-carat gold flakes”. It features a rich design with the hotel’s logo and a good amount of gold flakes that sparkle in the ambient lighting in the evening. It is served on a tray with a premium date and a dark chocolate coin.

Price – This rich and delicious cappuccino is priced at AED 73*.

Which of these cappuccinos would you like to try when the above-mentioned place reopen to welcome visitors again? Which cappuccino would you try to replicate at home in the meantime? Please share your thoughts with us!
