If you are happy in your house it makes living under lockdown conditions more bearable. However, when the lockdown lasts for a month (or maybe even longer for some) you start appreciating simple, routine things you used to be able to do without even thinking before.
Silvia and I are pretty self-sufficient when it comes to our beauty routines and can survive without frequent trips to beauty salons. The only thing we cannot do ourselves is making our nails look pretty! So it’s no surprise that the first place we went to when easing of the lockdown restrictions was announced was a beauty salon! Those of you who were checking the news every day in the hope of visiting their favourite beauty parlour will understand our elation when we called one of our preferred salons Beauty Connection Spa and were able to make an appointment for the same day!
We felt a bit apprehensive venturing out even with the ease of the movement restrictions, however, our feet desperately needed to be groomed so we went for our appointment and did not regret it. We were warmly welcomed at Beauty Connection Spa and they took our temperature before being escorted to a large space with numerous state-of-the-art pedicure chairs.
We were pleased to witness extensive sanitising and precautionary measures in place at the salon, which reassured us it was a safe place to enjoy beauty treatments. All parts of the pedicure chairs were covered with plastic but it did not take away from our pampering experience one bit! The salon has an army of well-trained and efficient nail technicians who remove dead skin properly and leave your feet silky smooth. If you ask for a pedicure you will be taken care of by 2 nails technicians at the same time to make this a speedy experience.
We left the salon with happy and grateful feet and this lovely experience was also easy on the pocket as they charge AED 73 for a classic pedicure, which is a steal compared to other places.
My pampering experience did not stop at getting a pedicure as I desperately needed a manicure too, so I visited my long-time favourite We Nails salon at their new location in Trident Garden Residence in JBR. The salon features a fresh and vibrant design and new comfy colourful chairs.
My appointment was with my usual talented nail technician and I was thrilled to have a beautiful manicure again! My nails are naturally long so I opt for an almond shape. Trying to recreate the same shape at home myself made me realise that it’s not easy at all and some things are better left to the professionals. We Nails is a hidden gem that always offers excellent service at a good price (my shellac manicure was under AED 150). They are also very strict about hygiene and social distancing measures so you are in safe hands there!
